The dreamcast should not have died, it was a great console, and was revolutionary at it’s time. And it had great games, like sonic adventure. Possibly the most revolutionary feature was it’s internet access. Though most of the dreamcast online sites have dissolved, a few still remain, for instance, the black market for sonic adventure 2. And you can still check your email on it.

OK so in many ways the Dreamcast was a good solid console. . Released in the West in 1999 with graphics comparable to the PC’s of the time it did make the other two competing consoles (the N64 and especially the Playstation) look fairly obsolete in comparison.

However time wasn’t very kind to Sega’s poor console as the PS2 tore Sega’s little white box to shreds. .

The ‘exclusives’ released for it include many [[Slightly overrated in my opinion classics]] including:

Jet Grind Radio (ported to Xbox)
Rez (Ported to PS2 and Live Arcade)
MSR (Ported to the original Xbox under the guise of Project Gotham Racing nuff said)
Shenmue (Sequel at least ported to Xbox)
House of The Dead 2 (HOTD 3 and 4 Ported to Xbox, HOTD appears on Wii)
Sega Rally 2 (wasn’t very good but has since been squealed)
Sega Bass Fishing (Ported to Wii)
    Seaman (Ported to PS2)
    Space Channel 5 (Ported to PS2). .
Ecco The Dolphin (Ported to PS2)
Samba de Amigo (Being ported to Wii)
Sonic Games (weren’t much good but have been ported and squealed again to death)
Headhunter (Poor mans Metal Gear Solid again Ported to PS2)
Ikugria (Ported to Gamecube, playable on Wii, also on Live Arcade)
Skies of Arcadia (Ported to Gamecube). .
Virtua Cop 2 (Ported to PS2)
Virtua Tennis 2 (Ported to PS2)
Phantasy Star Online (Ported to PS2, Gamecube and I think it has a next gen sequel too)
Street Fighter 3, Marvel vs Capcom et al (All appear on PS2 and Xbox)
Virtua Fighter 3 (VF 4 appeared on PS2 and VF 5 is on PS3/360 both much better games)
Crazy Taxi. . yeah ditto. .
2k Sports games not even worth mentioning. .

In fact I can think of only a handful of half decent titles you can’t now play anywhere else. . Daytona USA is one but I think that game pales in comparison to Ridge Racer, 4 Wheel Thunder is fun but Excite Truck is much better, there’s MDK 2 and Typing of the Dead but they will run on any PC released this decade. Umm maybe there’s a few really obscure Japanese games I’ve not heard of. . Magnetic Neo, Flogan Brothers? [Seriously Play Mario instead]. . There’s also an almost complete but never released arcade plane combat sim floating around the internet (Crimson Skies is waAAay better though) and RE Code Veronica (again squealed to death). There was a multiplayer first person shooter can’t remember its name but yeah games like that aren’t hard to find. .

Seriously you can play almost much all of the Dreamcast’s library and its future sequels by owning a 60GB PS3, an original Xbox and a Wii (plus you won’t be missing out other Sega games like Outrun 2, Panzer Dragoon Orta, Toejam and Earl 3, Billy Hatcher, Gunvalkyrie, Otogi 2 not to mention the other non Sega Related gems and all the new fanged next gen offerings I’ve not mentioned here.

So yeah Sega. . Thanks for the games and the memeries but it’s time to lay the Dreamcast to rest (unless you like homebrew 2D shooters which I incidentally don’t). .

The Dreamcast is one of the best consoles ever made the games are totally awesome it had games such as soul calibur, shenmue 2,crazy taxi 2,giga wing, trizeal and many others, the consoles like ps3,xbox 360 don’t have many quality games like the dc, still i’m playing on the dc right now which has really good games no need to buy another console at higher price at all, there are few companies still release import games there’s been new games trizeal, under defeat, chaos field which are all great shooters, try the dc and buy it straightway.

Well really all to say is WOW!!! the sega dreamcast definetly has my vote even though it was made in 1999. Ive had mine for six years now and even though it doesent compare to the grapics standard of an xbox 360 or ps3 the console rally has loads to offer.
